IEEE ComSoc Tokyo (Joint) Chapter


Chair


Dr. Takaya Yamazato is a professor at the Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Nagoya University, Japan. He received a Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Keio University, Yokohama, Japan 1993. From 1993 to 1998, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Electronics at Nagoya University, Japan. From 1997 to 1998, he was a visiting researcher at the Research Group for RF Communications, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. In 1998, he gave a half-day tutorial entitled “Introduction to CDMA ALOHA” at Globecom held in Sydney, Australia. Since then, he has been serving as a TPC member of Globecom and ICC. In 2006, he received the IEEE Communication Society’s Best Tutorial Paper Award. He served as the co-chair of the Wireless Communication Symposia of ICC 2009 and was the co-chair of the Selected Areas in Communication Symposia of ICC 2011. From 2008 to 2010, he served as the chair of the Satellite and Space Communication Technical Committee. In 2011, he gave a half-day tutorial entitled “Visible Light Communication” at ICC 2011, held in Kyoto, Japan.

Vice Chair


Dr. Noriaki Kamiyama received the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in communications engineering from Osaka University, in 1994 and 1996, respectively. From 1996 to 1997, he was with the University of Southern California as a Visiting Researcher. He joined the NTT Multimedia Network Laboratories, in 1997. He has been with the NTT Network Technology Laboratories, in 2016. He was also with Osaka University as an invited Associate Professor, from 2013 to 2014, and an invited Professor, in 2015. Since 2017, he has been a Professor with Fukuoka University. Since 2021, he has been a Professor with Ritsumeikan University. He has been engaged in research concerning content distribution systems, network design, network economics, traffic measurement and analysis, and traffic engineering. He is a member of ACM and IEICE. He received the Best Paper Award at the IFIP/IEEE IM 2013.

Secretary


Dr. Shan LU received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in telecommunications engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2007 and 2010, respectively, and her Ph.D. degree in information and computer science from Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan, in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, she was a research assistant at Doshisha University. From 2016 to 2023, she was an assistant professor at Gifu University. Currently, she is an associate professor/lecturer with the Department of Information and Communication Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan. Her research interests are in the areas of multiuser coding, coding for nonvolatile memories, and communications theory.

Treasurer


Dr. Ryo Nakamura received the M. E. and Ph. D. degrees from Kwansei Gakuin University, Japan, in 2017 and 2020, respectively. He is currently a lecturer at Faculty of Engineering, Fukuoka University, Japan. His research area is designing, analyzing, and understanding information network and communication network. He is a member of IEEE, IEICE, and IPSJ.
